I could wander around the Dollar Tree for hours. I love to piece items together in my head and imagine what I can make with them. This time I perused with Spring in mind. The first item that struck me was the fairy wings! They are purple AND sparkly which are two of my favorite things! Now if only they were made out of chocolate…
I brought these around the floral section looking for colors that would go nicely. I decided right away that I would go with blue, pink and purple. I was beyond happy to see how many of the flowers had sparkles! I also found this blue, sparkly decorative mesh and the rhinestone ribbon.
These are the behind-the-scenes items I purchased to put it all together, pipe cleaners, floral scissors and this foam circle.
I started out by wrapping the foam circle in the decorative mesh, this way any spots not covered by flowers would still be pretty and not just boring green foam. I used a one inch section of pipe cleaner to hold the ends down.
Then I attached the wings! I just used the elastic loops that were already attached and tied them on. Next, I used the sparkly ribbon to hide the elastic. I tucked the ends of the ribbon under the elastic and it stayed on very well. You could use a touch of hot glue if necessary.
Next, I snipped the stems of the flowers to about a half and inch and simply pressed them into the holes in the mesh and into the foam. I bent the stems on the larger flowers so they would lay flat rather than stick out.
I really liked the way it looked with only some flowers like in the picture above but I of course had to have MORE! So I filled that foam up with flowers and here is the final product!
I spent $11 on supplies for this project but I still have a lot of the decorative mesh and rhinestone ribbon. I used less than one pipe cleaner and of course I can use the floral scissors for later projects. I cannot wait to hang this beauty on the door for Spring!

I love Dollar Tree! Unfortunately there’s no dollar stores in Alaska! 🙁 To only spend $11 and to get that result is amazing! You should really be proud! It’s super cute and super fun to make! I love it!
Sounds like you need to open up the first Dollar Store in AK! 😉
I bought $10 worth of flowers last year and added them to a basic wreath that needed more color. That wreath ended up looking so lush! Great post!
Thank you! I am glad flowers are “in” right now! Haha!
I love this! This is totally up my alley. I have Christmas and Thanksgiving wreaths but no spring or summer ones. I’m definitely visiting the dollar store this weekend and making a pretty Spring wreath. Thanks for the inspiration!
You’re so welcome! I had a ton of fun wandering around looking for pretty, sparkly Spring colors! I bet you will too!
This is such a pretty idea! I love your color choice!
